Cross-stitched the pieces of her life back up,
And she travelled on;
With nothing but her weary eyes,
Splinters in the soles of her feet
And her pride.
And she sang the melody
Infused in the woodland and the trees,
And the river trickled by.
She whistled: "hey-ho, I'm on the road
And I ain't gonna stop now,
Not for anyone."
She missed out on his hopes and his dreams,
Left him way back home so she could walk alone,
And follow her own.
Mapped out the stars in the cloudiest skies,
Made a vow she'd greet them all
As she passed them by.
And she sang the melody
Infused in the woodland and the trees,
And the river trickled by.
She whistled: "hey-ho, I'm on the road
And I ain't gonna stop now,
Not for anyone."
Many years rolled peacefully by,
And she lived her life without the roadsigns,
She lived it to the full.
She met other guys and she bid them goodbye,
They never wanted to walk this path,
But she did, and she wondered why
It never made her cry.
And so she sang the melody
Infused in the woodland and the trees,
And the river trickled by,
(The story of her life.)
And still she whistled: "hey-ho, I'm walking this road,
And I ain't gonna stop now,
(It's now or never
I'm not gonna live forever,)
So I just can't stop now,
Not for anyone."
